Conservation Values: Contains a significant river corridor and other wetland features, extensive mixed forest and several unique natural communities. Protects natural communities that are specifically identified as a priority habitat by GA DNR SWAP: medium to large rivers, Mesic hardwood forests, oak-hickory pine forests and rocky or cobbly river shoals. Provides appropriate habitat for 3 rare species: Altamaha Shiner, Shoal Bass, and Pink Ladyslipper. Additionally, Oak Emilia, a rare Mollusk, exists within two miles of the CA. The CA is located within the South River watershed which originates in Atlanta. There are permanently protected federal and state lands nearby.
