Owen Property II

Last year, we shared the discovery and protection of 60 acres of remnant limestone glade, a rare and vanishing ecosystem. We’re thrilled to announce another major conservation milestone in Meigs County, Tennessee.  FLC has completed an additional conservation easement on the adjacent 103 acres of the Owen Property, bringing this protected landscape to over 160 acres of contiguous habitat.

This privately-owned tract is a biodiversity hotspot, home to an extraordinary array of rare species including prairie dock, Eggleston’s violet, Gattinger’s prairie clover, glade spikerush, and five species of milkweed which are critical food sources for monarchs and other pollinators.

We are grateful to this landowner for their vision and commitment to conservation. Together, we’ve ensured these unique species and their irreplaceable habitat are protected forever.
