A native of Lenoir City, Wes retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in November, 2013 as Senior Specialist in Natural Resource Management after 37+ years of service. He received his B.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from the University of Tennessee and worked briefly with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency as a Wildlife Officer in Bradley County before going to work for TVA in Norris, TN, where he obtained the position of Wildlife Biologist, specializing in waterfowl and wetlands wildlife habitat management and research. Wes also served as a Wetlands Specialist for TVA, conducting wetlands delineations and assessing potential project effects on wetlands for numerous Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements associated with National EPA requirements. Wes finished his career with TVA working at the Lenoir City Land Management Office and managing natural resources for Melton Hill, Fort Loudoun, Watts Bar, Tellico and Fontana Reservoirs. Wes has lived in Oak Ridge since 1977 with his wife Norma, who recently retired from Oak Ridge Schools after 40 years of teaching. They have two grown children and three grandchildren. Wes counts fishing, native plant gardening and birding as his primary hobbies, with spending time with his family is at the top of the list. He is currently sitting on the Board and House and Property Chair of Temple Beth El in Knoxville.
