Sara Rose is Vice President and Director of Government and Industry Affairs at Bush Brothers & Company, a Knoxville-based, privately-held food company best known for the nation’s leading brand of bean-based food products. Since joining the company in 1996, Sara has served in various roles, including Marketing, Manufacturing, Product Development, Strategic Business Development, and Research. She is currently focused on advancing and supporting the interests of the company through advocacy, coalition building, and relationship development, and serves the industry by participating on the Boards of several trade associations. Prior to Bush, Sara served as Partner and Vice President for Whittle Communications, L.P., a company that created media for targeted audiences. During her 12 years at Whittle, Sara led New Business Development and teams responsible for the development and launch of over 40 media properties, and also served as Vice President of Corporate Marketing and External Affairs, where she was responsible for establishing strong and positive relationships with the public. Highly involved in the Knoxville community, Sara has served as Commissioner of the Metropolitan Planning Commission, and on various Boards, including the East Tennessee Foundation, the Knoxville Zoo, the Ronald MacDonald House, the Senior Citizen’s Home Assistance, and the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Sara graduated magna cum laude with a BA in History and Economics from Vanderbilt University, and holds an MBA from Indiana University. She and her late husband, Jack, are long-term supporters of land preservation in East Tennessee.
