How You Can Help
- If you are a landowner, consider donating a conservation easement. The
tax benefits of donated conservation easements are potentially large! Contact
us.
- Donations of funds or appreciated assets are always welcome and needed
to help us do our work. It is possible to donate online.
- Bequests and future gifts are easy to arrange.
- Become a member.
- Volunteer
- Foothills Land Conservancy needs volunteers with a variety of skills. Time
commitments are not large and schedules are flexible. If any
of the efforts outlined below are of interest to you, please contact
us.
- Familiarity with several computer programs, including Excel,
Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe PageMaker is
desirable.
- We need occasional help with operating an HP ScanJet 6200C
scanner.
- Our scrapbook could use some tender loving care.
- A large number of businesses in Maryville/Alcoa and Knoxville
donate their used printer cartridges to us for recycling. We
receive money for the cartridges we collect. We need
someone to oversee that effort.
We are no longer involved in the recycling
program. "Rapid
Refill" in Alcoa (981-4465) accepts cartridges
for recycling.
- To be proper stewards of the lands and conservation easements
that have been donated to us, we must monitor each parcel
at least once a year. The monitoring efforts include inspection of each property
to be sure the conservation values have not been compromised and to
be sure the terms of the easements are being upheld. We prefer
to monitor when the foliage is off the trees. If
you would like to assist us in monitoring properties, contact
us.
- We publish a newsletter to our members and friends twice
a year. If
writing, editing, or layout is fun for you, do we have
an opportunity for you!
- We would like to develop a press release every month. If you have an interest and writing skills, contact us.
