FLC is celebrating 38 years as a regional land trust, having assisted with over 140,000 acres preserved and 350 land preservation partnerships to date!

We could not have come this far without the support of our Friends of the Foothills!

Thanks to your generous contributions, FLC is able to expand our preservation efforts across this diverse and beautiful Southern Appalachian region. All of our supporters are considered a ‘Friend of the Foothills’ and we gladly accept any and all donations – no gift is too small!

Foothills is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and we rely solely on individual and corporate contributions to sustain our organizational, land acquisition and stewardship funds.

IRA Charitable Rollover (Qualified Charitable Distribution)

Did you know that as an 501(c)(3) organization FLC is eligible to receive a qualified charitable distribution (QCD)? A QCD may help fulfill any required minimum distribution that you may have from a Traditional IRA.

Spencer Hall, President of Retirement Planning Services, discusses giving to FLC through an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution.

Per the IRS, a QCD “is an otherwise taxable distribution from an IRA (other than an ongoing SEP or SIMPLE IRA) owned by an individual who is age 70½ or over that is paid directly from the IRA to a qualified charity.”

Qualified individuals can provide gifts up to $100,000 annually from their individual retirement accounts to charity – tax-free. Contact your IRA custodian, financial planner, or accountant to request a ‘Qualified Charitable Distribution’.

Corporate Matching Gift Programs

Many companies offer a program which will match employee gifts to organizations like Foothills Land Conservancy.  Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.  To arrange a matching gift and multiply your support to Foothills, check with your employer to see if FLC is eligible to participate. Foothills staff can assist with applicable paperwork and can provide confirmation of our organization’s 501(c)(3) status and U.S. Federal Tax ID number (E.I.N.) upon request.
